LYR003 Flord King – Klassisk EP
After various tracks on releases on his Lyssna Records and Junk Yard Connections, Flord King releases his debut solo EP. Four cuts in a Flord manner.
Lyssna Records is an independent record label from Stockholm, Sweden.
Lyssna is run by Adam Stromstedt, Mohammed Al Harbiti and Flord King. We aim to produce, put out and nurture our shared passion for the deeper side of music, whether it’s electronic, acoustic or experimental. The debut EP “LYR001” hit the stores in May, 2016. It debuted at #8 on the best sellers chart and has received praise and acclaim from some of the most influential DJ’s and producers out there today. Pressed by Handewithcare.de, mastered by Schnittstelle and distributed by Juno.co.uk.
After big releases from Lyssna’s own Adam Stromstedt and Flord King, the Stockholm based imprint are proud to give you their first VA compilation: ZNA001.
This time around they are showcasing some of their favourite artists. A-side kicks off with lekker Dutch producer Levi Verspeek, who has had numerous critically acclaimed releases on labels such as Apollonia, raum…musik and RUIS, just to name a few. His track ‘256‘ takes you on a deep dancing journey. It has a certain attitude about it that coupled with a rolling bass line carries you through to the end, creating the perfect vibe for the dance floor.
A2 gives you newcomer Peshka from Ukraine. With his unique sound, his track ‘Miracle‘ is a sophisticated and delicate minimal masterpiece, with strange vocal samples that make it perfect for those early morning sets.
On the flip side, Lyssna hands the reigns back to their own heroes. B1 ‘Steff Off‘ by Flord King gives you a mellow and housy ride with dreamy chords and a jazzy bass line that pays homage to his musical background. With B2 ‘HM 2016‘, Adam Stromstedt makes sure his hypnotic sounds are being heard. Fine violins, breaking glass and his signature sampling methods make for a heady musical trip into his unusual mind.
Sydney based Swede Adam Stromstedt returns for the second release on Lyssna, which he co-runs with partners out of Stockholm and Amsterdam. He’s previously done stuff on Bristol’s Banoffee Pies and local imprint Junk Yard Connections, Mr. Tophat’s label. His offering on the A side entitled “Sinbad” is a dusty and hypnotic deep house jam, that will appeal to fans of Thomas Melchior or more recently Rene Audiard. On the flip, there’s label co-owner Flord King, who just so happens to be the aforementioned connection in Amsterdam. His contribution “Dapper” is another excursion in subtle trance induction with rolling bass, immaculately programmed rhythm and woozy pads for added effect.
Two of the founding members, Adam Stromstedt and Flord King, join forces to create a deep, jazzy and delicately put together debut. A1 ‘Shakshuka‘, a track driven by jazzy percussion and smooth chords on top and a slightly off kilter bass groove. A2 ‘Det Eviga Mysteriet‘ hits you straight away with it’s hip hop and soul inspired touch, distinct vocal samples and bouncy beat. Flip side starts off with ‘Foul‘ a slow pulsating track, perfect for those late night shifts on the floor. Finishing off the EP is Mr. Tophat‘s rendition of Shakshuka, weird and delightful at the same time, just like a Mr. Tophat remix should be, BLU.
